Production Totals

With the original records for your Macho T/A’s being preserved, we are able to accurately determine the total breakdown of options for each Macho T/A!

At present, these numbers are still being calculated for option by option and driveline options. As we have had more and more Macho owners send in their buildsheets and production information, these records have slowly been updated to reflect the option totals. Note: this page may not display correctly on Mobile browsers.

PLEASE NOTE! These totals are only respective of the current remaining Macho T/A’s we have documented, and also are reliant on the owners of these Macho T/A’s providing us with either a copy of the PHS documentation or original GM buildsheet and the DKM work order showing the options the cars were ordered with. We will eventually get the documents for every single Macho T/A, even if they are lost, destroyed or missing, once we have all of the current owners’ documentation, we’ll be able to bridge the gap and source the documentation for the others to make a 100% complete database and option breakdown.

Original Buildsheet

We need the factory Pontiac PHS paperwork or the original buildsheet that is sometimes found on the fuel tank or within the interior to ensure we have a full recording of all the factory RPO codes. With this information, we can breakdown how many cars have power windows, T-Tops, cruise control, and so on.

PHS documentation is essential paperwork for any Firebird owner, and we please ask that every Macho T/A owner order the Information Packet. They also offer a window sticker, we would suggest ordering the window stickers instead from Michael Noun. Michael produces much higher quality Pontiac Dealer window stickers, and exclusively reproduces the Mecham DKM window sticker:

The next piece of documentation we need is the original DKM work order or window sticker. This shows us what DKM factory options your Macho was ordered with. Rob Thomas has all these records for 1978 - 1979 Macho T/A’s, and you can order a copy of this documentation from Rob just like you would with PHS by reaching out directly to him:

This will allow us to count the total number of DKM options made for each car, and examine trends between ordering patterns and the rarity of each option.

Factory Options:

1977 is a bit of a hard year to document and record the production totals for. We don’t have too many ‘77 Machos recorded, and the documentation is a bit inconsistent for this year. We are reaching out to the owners of the ‘77’s to get some more PHS records. At the moment, we only have 6 of the 26 1977 Machos so the production numbers are not too expansive at the moment. Previously I thought it was 26, but Dennis corrected me advising there was actually reportedly 27.

1978 is a great year for information on the Macho T/A’s, as there was so much variation, and so many different combinations of options. There are a handful of 1 of 1 combos, and many more options that became available for the Firebird as well as for DKM cars this year. There were 202 Macho T/A’s made in 1978, with two more additional cars (203 +204) being produced post-1980 for customers who brang their regular T/A’s to Mecham for the conversion.
